Services
- Support
Streets Ahead offers support to a range of adults
and young people with learning disabilities in the Scottish Borders.
The support is delivered in our registered care homes, individuals’
homes and the wider community. We support youngsters from the age
of 12 upward and adults of any age with varying degrees of disability.
We strive to ensure the support is individually
tailored to meet the assessed needs of the client and offer them,
their families/carers full access to the plans we develop, indeed
we expect families/carers to participate in developing the support
plans and to play an active part in reviewing progress.
We work with a range of young people who need skilled
support to enable participation in every day ordinary activities.
We have positive links and relationships with the schools and colleges
some of the young people attend.
The difficult transition to adult services can be a distressing
time for some young people, their families and carers. By working
with the person through this transition, we feel we can offer a
constant and familiar source of support when moving to adult services.
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Support
Streets Ahead have developed considerable experience
in supporting people with ASD. A number of people we support, particularly
youngsters, have a learning disability and ASD. The support offered
needs to be individually tailored in order that progress can be
made in communicating, working along side and helping individuals
access ordinary community facilities. Streets Ahead is currently
working towards the National
Autistic Society (NAS) Accreditation Scheme and we plan to secure
this recognition in 2007. |
